The Sesame Street of Prehistory

Any child today could tell you how to get to Sesame Street, but until recent discoveries in the field paleontology no one could tell you how it was formed.  Long before there were streets, much less streets with names, long before humans even walked the earth with their artificial constructs like “numbers” and “letters”, there waged a nigh-interminable struggle for survival, a crucible of fang and claw, of muscle and bone, an evolutionary arms race in which the victor gained nothing more than the opportunity to bestow this dire conflict onto the next generation, while to the loser went an altogether much bleaker prize: Extinction.
